|Project goal:||Hold observation capacity-building trainings in cooperation with partner organizations in the Project target marzes (regions) and Yerevan.Create a database of trained observers and involve them in the observation of the council of elders elections in Vanadzor and Gyumri on October 2, 2016.|
|Result:||In Lori, Shirak, Gegharkunik and Syunik marzes (regions) and Yerevan, trainings were held on the implementation of the recommendations of the international observation missions in RA and the RA Electoral Code 2016.The coordinators and trainers selected by the partner organizations in the Project target marzes (regions) and Yerevan were provided with trainings on legislative regulations of elections, organizing and methods of observation missions and before the local government elections of October 2, 2016 they in their turn held trainings for observers and coordinated their activities. The 200 trained observers carried out an observation mission in Vanadzor and Gyumri on October 2, 2016 and its results were summarized in a report.
On the election day, in Vanadzor and Gyumri there was also a legal group of 10 members who provided consulting to the observers and submitted letters to relevant agencies.
The observation mission also covered a long-term observation of the electoral campaign in the both cities.
Some Project actions were co-financed by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee and Sigrid Rausing Trust.
