When protesters commenced their actions, the police concentrated massive forces and tried to forcibly remove protesters from the territory.
Some protesters were detained. The Police reported that the number of detained persons was 20.
On April 16, 2018 HCA Vanadzor submitted a crime report to the RA General Prosecutor’s Office in regard to attacking and beating students on Heratsi Street.
An alert was received through the Joint Hotline of Human Rights Defenders in regard to police officers hindering protesters’ free movement even across the crosswalk.
Alerts were received through the Joint Hotline of Human Rights Defenders. According to those alerts, a great number of youths were detained by the police in different parts of Yerevan. Youths are mainly detained in the territory of educational institutions and parks, where accumulations of young persons can be noticed.
A few hours after the assembly, a group of persons, who presented themselves as protesters, started to demonstrate aggressive behavior, breaking street signs and traffic lights, swearing and throwing stones at police officers.
We have just been informed that the client of Arayik Zalyan, advocate at HCA Vanadzor, was taken to the Yerevan Central Police Station for committing an administrative offense and was photographed against his will in violation of his rights.
HCA Vanadzor was alerted to the fact that today, on April 17, police officers detained 6 youths on Frik Street in Yerevan and took them away in a yellow VAZ-2124 with 34 TM 967 on the state number plate.
The peaceful demonstrators detained at 8.13 on April 18, 2018 are now at Nor Nork Police Division and have not been released yet.

On April 16, 2018 the police officers applied special measures on Baghramyan Avenue when the protesters were trying to overcome the barbed wires placed along the street and move forward to the building of the RA National Assembly.

Today, on the early morning of April 17, 2018, HCA Vanadzor submitted a crime report to the RA General Prosecutor’s Office about detaining activists without any legal grounds.
Today, since the morning of April 15, 2018, the representatives of the movement “Take a step, reject Serzh” (the movement is against former RA President Serzh Sargsyan being elected Prime Minister) blocked dozens of streets in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.
