On July 23, 2011 a meeting at Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor office was convened with the participation of representatives from NGOs based in USA, Turkey and Armenia.

The training course called "Together for Peace" organized by UNOY (United Network of Young Peace-builders), the Netherlands and Academy for Peace and Development, Tbilisi, Georgia, took place in Kobuleti, Georgia, on 11-19 June 2010. 26 participants from 14 countries came together to discuss conflict situations.

There was serious and important discussion in the first part of the day, during the second half, friendly relations, contacts and acquaintance with the culture of youngsters living on the other side of the border and then discovery of their own in the unfamiliar.

On November 29, 2008, an international conference on “Armenian-Turkish cross-border cooperation: possible initiatives by Armenia and Turkey” took place in Vanadzor.

On November 27, 2008 a seminar-discussion on “Armenian-Turkish relationship: A Sight from Europe” took place in Vanadzor. The seminar was organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.

The young peace-builders met again in Tbilisi. 26 young peace-builders from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh, who came together with the help of HCA Vanadzor, got acquainted with the skills of monitoring, were informed about the techniques of taking an interview.

Though Russian authorities officially state and assure that their troops are being removed from Georgian territory we are still getting information about cases of robbery in the territories that are under the control of Russian troops, as well as about destruction of military and civil structures of Georgia.

Amnesty International calls on all sides in the conflict in South Ossetia to fully respect international humanitarian law and as such, to ensure that civilians are protected from hostilities. The same standards must also be respected in other related hostilities reported to be breaking out in the Kodori Gorge in Abkhazia, another disputed region of Georgia.

International Alert is extremely concerned about the current escalation in violence in the conflict centered on South Ossetia, and about its potential consequences for stability and peace in the region as a whole. Out of humanitarian concern for the affected populations, we call on all parties to suspend hostilities and refrain from provocations of all kinds.
