Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan sentenced today the editor-in-chief of “Haykakan Zhamanak” daily Nikol Pashinyan to 7 years of imprisonment.

On December 27, 2009, HCA Vanadzor summed up its last year activity and publicized on local “Lori TV.”

On December 8 and December 11, 2009 with the assistance of the employees of HCA Vanadzor, the Lori regional anti-corruption center held awareness raising campaigns in Spitak, Stepanavan and Tashir.

From November 29 - December 6, a study session was organized by UNOY Peacebuilders, Peace Action Training and Research Institute of Romania, Peace Dialogue NGO, in cooperation with the Council of Europe in the European Youth Center in Budapest.

Open Society Institute Assistance-Armenia initiated a campaign in a number of regions of Armenia from December 4 to 6 devoted to the International Day of HIV/AIDS.  

On November 7, 9, 31, 2009, HCA Vanadzor organized public discussions and TV programs on “Corruption and Human Rights” in the towns of Tashir, Spitak and Stepanavan. The discussions and TV programs aimed to raise public awareness in five towns of Lori region.

Training on “Vulnerable groups’ right to health in the context of human rights” took place in Ijevan, on November 27, 2009.

The European Union launched an ambitious programme of Eastern Partnership (EaP) in May 2009, which aims to strengthen the ties of the EU with six eastern neighbouring countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

On November 20, 2009 a training on “Harm Reduction and Human Rights” took place  in “Asparez’ journalists’ club in Gyumri. Representatives of about 15 NGOs, students of the faculty of law at Universities took part in the training.

On November 11, 2009 Armen Harutyunyan, the Human Rights Defender, had a meeting in the office of HCA Vanadzor.
