In February 2023, the RA Ministry of Defense put into circulation a draft law, according to which women can serve in the Armed Forces for six months on a voluntary basis. This draft makes it possible for women to serve military service in the Armed Forces for six months on a voluntary basis. As noted by the RA Prime Minister during the Government’s session, they have a goal to have new or very fresh infrastructure for women, as it is a new page and the process should be launched with new content and freshness.
Upon completing the service, women will receive a reward of AMD 1 million. Instead of being discharged, female servicepersons will be entitled to apply to the ‘’Motherland Defender’’ programme and become a contractual serviceperson for 5 years.
On 21 April 2023, the RA Government made a decision to approve the draft and present it to the RA National Assembly.
