In July 2019, Non-Discrimination and Equality Coalition, a part of which is Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor, together with Equal Rights Trust partner organization, presented a UN universal periodic review report on the state of the protection of the right to equality in Armenia.
With the participation of HCA Vanadzor, the following recommendations were included in the report:
- abolish institutes of disability and limited ability, instead, establish a mechanism of supported decision-making,
- ratify the optional protocol to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities,
- abolish legislative provisions allowing for involuntary hospitalization and involuntary treatment.
