Legislative Proposals and Analysis
Article 264 of the Code of Internal Service of the Armed Forces of the RA establishes that during peaceful times female servicepersons are not appointed for the day duty, except for the dorm day duty. If necessary, they can be appointed as doctor on duty (medical assistant), staff duty officer, and letter delivery person․ Female servicepersons are also appointed to duty according to their profession.
Taking into account the fact that male servicepersons, being involved in the performance of wider service duties, have greater opportunities for service advancement, as well as based on the principle of non-discrimination, it is important to guarantee the appointment of female servicepersons in the day duty, which will ensure equal opportunities for service advancement. At the same time, it is necessary to provide the necessary conditions for female servicepersons included in the day duty to ensure the proper performance of service duties, taking into account the specific requirements of women due to their physiological characteristics.
