Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor

The aim of the project is to raise efficiency of human rights protection of vulnerable groups in the Republic of Armenia.

The project is aimed at the implementation of the Organization’s strategy, particularly, the strategy goals below.

Goal 1. Contribute to the protection of human rights and restoration of violated rights.

Goal 2. Contribute to the reform of human rights protection policy, efficiency of the mechanisms and development of civil oversight in the Republic of Armenia.

Goal 3. Promote the dissemination of the idea of human rights, contribute to raising people’s legal consciousness, contribute to the expansion of human rights protection and peace-building movement in the Republic of Armenia and in the region.   

Project objectives

Goal 1.  objectives 

Objective 1.1 Provide legal support to the representatives of target groups.

Objective 1.2 Improve and develop the Organization’s methods and mechanisms aimed at the restoration of violated human rights.

Goal 2. objectives 

Objective 2.1 Assess the implementation of state projects in target spheres.

Objective 2.2 Discover the state of human rights in target spheres.

Objective 2.3 Discover the state of participatory democracy by monitoring electoral processes and activity of local self-government bodies.

Objective 2.4 Assess and promote human rights international commitments and their implementation undertaken by the Republic of Armenia as a member country of UN, Council of Europe, OSCE.

Objective 2.5 Promote the change of legislation and law enforcement practice in order to solve the problems discovered.

Objective 2.6 Support the formation and development of human rights monitoring institute.

Goal 3. objectives  

Objective 3.1 Raise the level of citizens’ awareness of human rights, human rights protection and peace-building activity.

Objective 3.2 Cooperate with active citizens and human rights organizations on national and international levels.  

Objective 3.3 Initiate and support peace-building initiatives in the region and promote development of mutual trust and dialogue between isolated societies.
