Development of the MIA Police Reforms Strategy and its 2024-2026 Action Plan was launched with a discussion with civil society organizations. The discussion was organized by Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor in cooperation with Democracy Development Foundation.

“This is an unprecedented format for police reforms, and such thematic discussions will allow us to raise existing issues and various concerns that will be inventoried, and we will thus proceed in the logic of outlining their solutions”, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan stressed.

Arpine Sargsyan noted that the process of developing the new strategy will be more inclusive, considering not only recommendations of state authorities, but also those of civil society representatives. Addressing issues of ensuring integrity in the police system, public accountability and oversight, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs noted that respective mechanisms should be introduced to help make the new strategy foreseeable to everyone.
