Statement

Today, on 08․01․2023, a group of protesters organized a peaceful assembly near the Russian 102nd military base in Gyumri as a sign of protest against the blocking of the Lachin corridor. The peaceful assembly was illegally interrupted by policemen, who directly forbade the protesters from participating in the organized assembly and apprehended them on illegal grounds, violating their right to freedom of peaceful assembly.

Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor announces that the Organization is ready to provide free legal aid to all persons affected by the policemen’s illegal activities during the aforementioned assembly. We hereby inform the citizens illegally apprehended by policemen during the above-mentioned assembly, the citizens subjected to physical or psychological violence and their relatives that in order to get legal aid, they can contact the Organization’s lawyers at the numbers given below.
