Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor

On September 20, 2018, Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction resumed the inquest of passing a judgment on additional punishment of doctors charged with the death of  27-month-old Lia Misakyan who died in 2013.

Defendant L. Vardanyan and Z. Ayvazyan’s lawyers  did not appear in the court session. The former did not object to holding the trial in the absence of the lawyers, therefore the session continued with the absence of Givi Hovhannisyan and Yerem Sargsyan.

The Court reported that after the resumption of the case, the RA Police Information Center presented an information paper stating that defendants L. Vardanyan and Z. Ayvazyan had not been previously judged. The information paper contained information on the criminal record of this case under Article 130 § 2 of the RA Criminal Code.

The parties did not express their position on the information paper of the RA Police Information Center and in the absence of petition, the Court passed to the stage of judicial disputes.

Accuser G. Aghajanyan, representative of  the injured party’s successor T. Siradeghyan and the defendants claimed their earlier speeches. The parties were not willing to make a replication and the defendants were not willing to make a final statement.

Thus, the Court considered the case investigation completed and left for the conference room to decide on a judgment which is to be publicized at 12 p.m., on September 24.
