Another case of violation of an absolute right, this time against advocates.
HCA Vanadzor condemns the actions of the Erebuni police department: the policemen beat advocates Marzpet Avagyan and Emanuel Ananyan, before that, the minor clients of the advocates were also beaten in the same police department.
Under the guise of “new” and “reforming” police phrases, this type of attitude towards advocates, minor defendants, and everyone in general is condemnable and unacceptable. Such behavior is very worrisome, especially in this period of implementation of the recently formed Ministry of Internal Affairs and Police “reforms”.
Thus, once again, we record that the absolute right to be free from ill-treatment, guaranteed by international conventions, continues to be violated in police departments.
HCA Vanadzor demands the immediate resignation of the head of the Erebuni police department and the staff, implementation of a comprehensive, full and objective investigation, identification of offenders and appointment of a proportionate punishment.
