On January 23, 2021, A. A. received shrapnel wounding during the compulsory military service performing combat duty. On the same day, A. A. was hospitalized, and his lower limbs were amputated due to the received shrapnel injuries.
On February 15, 2021, according to the conclusions of the Central Military-Medical Committee of the RA Defense Ministry, A. A. was found unfit for military service and was discharged early. On May 16, A. A. underwent medical-social examination by the Unified Social Service but was not recognized as a person with disabilities.
HCAV /Hayk Hakobyan, the former lawyer of the organization/, undertook the protection of the rights of A. A. On June 30, 2022, a lawsuit was submitted to the Administrative Court of RA to oblige the Unified Social Service to grant A. A. a third-degree disability status. By the decision of December 21, 2023, of the Administrative Court, the claim of the Organization was upheld.
On January 13, 2023, the Unified Social Service appealed the verdict. On October 12, 2023, the Appellate Court of RA decided to reject the appeal of the Unified Social Service.
HCAV continued the protection of the A. A.'s rights. Disagreeing with the decision of the Administrative and Appellate Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia, the Unified Social Service filed a cassation appeal to the Administrative Court of Cassation of the Republic of Armenia on November 29, 2023. On March 1, 2024, the Administrative Court of Cassation made a decision to reject the appeal of the Unified Social Service of the RA Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
After more than three years of struggle, the rights of A. A. were restored.
On June 7, 2024, the Unified Social Service assigned A. A. permanent disability of the 3rd degree.
