Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor

On 3 February 2021, in Shirak Region general Jurisdiction Court, another court session presided by Judge Adrine Ghukasyan took place on the case of Julieta Ghukasyan, who was murdered in Slabodka district of the town of Gyumri at around 7 am on 2 December 2018.  

For the commission of this act,  Russian 102nd Military Base serviceman Andrey Razgildeyev was charged with Article 112 part 2 clause 14 (infliction of wilful heave damage to health), and arrest was chosen as a preventive measure. Since the decision was made, he has been serving his arrest in the territory of the Russian 102nd Military Base. 

Let us remind that HCA Vanadzor Chairman Artur Sakunts and HCA Vanadzor advocates Arayik Zalyan and Hayk Hakobyan have undertaken the protection of the rights of the victim’s legal successor.

The court session envisaged to be held on February 3 was postponed, this time because the materials were not completely translated and provided to Razgildeyev. 

During the court session, the concluding part of the charge was publicized, however, A. Razgildeyev does not consider himself to be guilty and refuses to answer clarifying questions.  

“The Court continues violating the Criminal Procedure Code and holding court sessions remotely, when it is not envisaged by law”, says the advocate who protects the interests of the victim’s legal successors.

Besides the above-mentioned violations of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Court also manifests a biased attitude towards participants of the litigation, namely, the Court prohibits video recording of the defendant without any grounds. 

The next court session is to be held on 22 February 2021.
