From 22 September till 9 October 2023, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor conducted training courses on the rights and obligations of conscripts, servicemen, persons subject to military enlistment and reservists in six regions in Armenia, namely, Lori, Ararat, Shirak, Armavir, Aragatsotn and Tavush.
Coordinator of HCAV Department of Oversight of Defence and Security Sector Nazeli Movsesyan and advocate Hayk Hakobyan presented procedures of military enlistment, call-up for compulsory military service, training gatherings, procedure of medical expert examinations conducted during the aforementioned processes, etc.
During these meetings, HCAV advocate also presented the procedure for appealing decisions (conclusions) issued in the frame of compulsory military service (see page 32 in the guide).
They also addressed voluntary military service of female citizens (see page 7 in the guide).
Around 80 persons, namely, conscripts, former servicemen, officers, reservists and persons subject to military enlistment, their relatives, as well as “Basic military preparation” subject teachers, participated in the awareness raising training courses.
