In July 2021, Deputy Governor of Vayots Dzor Nane Asatryan was dismissed. At that point, Nane Asatryan was 7 months pregnant.

Asatryan applied to HCAV, requesting to protect her rights. In the frame of “Decent Work Now” project, HCAV lawyer Tiruhi Vardanyan undertook protection of Asatryan’s rights and applied to the RA Administrative Court, since working women’s rights to protection of maternity and labor, guaranteed by international agreements and RA domestic legislation, had been violated.  

The Administrative Court refused the lawsuit in the judgment of 03.03.2022. The judgment was appealed, and the Administrative  Court of Appeal upheld it in its judgment of 03.03.2023. The Administrative Court of Appeal issued a decision on reinstatement of Nane Asatryan and payment of the salary subject to be paid for the period of idleness. 

In case of no appeal of the judgment of the Administrative Court of Appeal, it will enter into force.
