Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor report- made on November 2, 2018 - on checking the lawfulness of property and financial means acquisition of the Republican Party of Armenia is investigated in the RA Police Yerevan city department central division. However, there has been no decision received yet.
In the report, HCA Vanadzor invoked the declarations presented to the Republican Party of Armenia (who had been ruling for 20 years at that time) during the parliamentary elections in April 2017, which made it obvious that the Republican Party of Armenia had thrice more financial and property resources in comparison with all the other parties operating in Armenia together, and they are located on the whole territory of the Republic of Armenia.
After submitting the report, on December 21, 2018, RA Police Yerevan city department central division head A. Papyan asked to give explanations about the report. After giving explanations orally on the phone, HCA Vanadzor has no information pertaining to the decision made.
On January 22, 2019, HCA Vanadzor applied to the RA Prosecutor General A. Davtyan requesting to get the decision. On January 31, A. Simonyan – head of the Department for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office – readdressed the letter to Yerevan city Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts Prosecutor A. Afandyan and instructed to inform HCA Vanadzor about the results.
It should be mentioned that the RA General Prosecutor’s Office sent the crime report to the RA Police General Department on Combating Organized Crime back on November 12, 2018. Around 3 months have passed, but we still have not received a decision made on the grounds of the report.
