The six-year court case has now concluded. On February 4, the Kotayk Region Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction partially upheld Artur Sakunts' claim against Narek Malyan. The court ordered Malyan to pay 400,000 AMD to Sakunts as compensation for non-pecuniary damages resulting from defamation. This decision can be appealed within one month.

It should be mentioned that in 2019, Narek Malyan published a Facebook post that contained disinformation against Artur Sakunts, the chairman of HCA Vanadzor, defaming the latter's personality and dignity,  creating a wrong opinion about the personality of A. Sakunts among the public. In particular,  Malyan mentioned in the Facebook post.

  • All know Sorosian Artur Sakunts, but few are aware that in January, Sakunts had received 221 thousand dollars from the office of Soros for the propaganda of handing over the lands.

Malyan had also published part out of context from an old video and named it “Sorosian Artur Sakunts suggests handing over the liberated territories”

HCAV has always fought against disinformation as its priority and has conducted strategic litigations against that, one of which was the case of “A. Sakunts against Malyan”.

We want to proudly state that the “Open Society Foundations - Armenia”,  which was mentioned by Narek Malyan, in 2019, has provided free legal support to 1236 citizens through the institutional support of 221 thousand dollars. It has also conducted 144 strategic litigations. As of 2019, 31 complaints have been submitted to ECHR. As a result of legal support, the violated rights of more than 250 citizens have been restored. In the 8 regions of the RA, 300 persons participated and were informed in the training aimed at awareness raising about conscription and mobilization. 120 legislative proposals aimed at ensuring the protection of human rights regarding the 8 draft laws have been presented. 96 observers have been included in the framework of observation missions of the Local Government Elections and much more.
