October 24. The Azerbaijani armed forces continually launched rockets on the towns of the Republic of Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh and the capital city Stepanakert

Vahram Poghosyan, spokesperson of the President of the Republic of Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh, reported that in the evening of October 23, Askeran town of the Republic of Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh was under fire. At midnight, Martuni was again in the crosshairs of the Azerbaijani armed forces. Rocket strikes caused a lot of material damage. There are no casualties among the civilian population.

 

Earlier, he had reported that Stepanakert had once again been struck with rockets by the Azerbaijani armed forces.

 

The State Service of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh posted photos of Stepanakert, where on the night of October 23, the Azerbaijani armed forces launched “Smerch” rockets on the civilian population. The attack caused severe material damages. Private houses, cars, economic and household objects were damaged in residential districts.

 

Earlier, Vahram Poghosyan, spokesperson of the President of the Republic of Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh, reported that the Azerbaijani armed forces once again launched rockets on Stepanakert.

 

On October 24, the Armenian Unified Infocenter posted the RA/NK Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan’s briefing, during which he presented the data on injuries, deaths and destructions among the civilian population. Those facts had been collected in the frame of the fact-finding mission implemented since September 27. According to A. Beglaryan, at least 37 persons have been killed and 118 persons have been injured among the civilian population. There are also missing civilians. There is a great danger that they were either killed or tortured, which is a war crime. According to the preliminary analysis, about 10.500 private properties have been completely destroyed, namely, houses, apartments, shops. More than 1500 infrastructure units, including public and industrial objects, have been either damaged or destroyed. More than 1.100 cars have been damaged. Artak Beglaryan mentioned that the presented numbers were approximate and needed to be clarified.

 

Later, the Infocenter publicized information on civilian casualties and losses of the Armenian side caused by the Azerbaijani aggression. According to the information, there are 40 civilians killed, 120 civilians injured and 13.000 buildings damaged.

 

The Armenian Unified Infocenter reported that during October 24, Azerbaijan has constantly kept peaceful settlements in the Republic of Artsakh/NK under fire. Rockets were launched on the city of Martuni and the community of Taghavart in the same region from Grad and Smerch rocket launchers. In the second half of the day, the town of Martakert was once again bombarded through military aviation. There are no human casualties, the amount of destruction is being assessed.

 

Reputable Genocide Watch, which assesses genocide threat in the world, considers Azerbaijan to be at Stage 9: Extermination and Stage 10: Denial. Genocide Watch recommends that the U.N. Security Council should demand that Azerbaijan stop all offensive maneuvers against the Republic of Artsakh and order a “ceasefire” in the current conflict. “The Security Council should impose an embargo on the sale of arms to Azerbaijan. World leaders should condemn hate speech and genocide denial by the Aliyev regime”, says the official website of the organization.
