Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor

Dear friend,

Mainly conditioned by the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, infringements and challenges against human rights and democracy values by dictatorial and authoritarian countries continued in 2023. 

War and aggressions accompanied by disinformation, fabrication and targeting aimed at devaluing democracy and undermining human rights.

On the other hand, authorities did not manifest a proper will and consistency in overcoming the said objective obstacles. This would have been possible only in case of consistent implementation of commitments undertaken to make democratic reforms and strengthen human rights mechanisms, and effectively combat corruption.

At the same time, we took a joint action to withstand the listed challenges and protect democracy and human rights values in Armenia.

We wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, your families, friends and allies. May 2024 be a successful year for our efforts aimed at stopping aggressions, wars,  preventing and overcoming new challenges against human rights and democracy, and ensuring progress.
